Raise the Curtain:Moving Through Darkness
The once-a-decade Spring Gala Fundraiser for the Families First RI Moms for Moms program features the world premiere of the new documentary film, Raise the Curtain: Moving Through Darkness.
Produced by Rhode Island filmmaker Soren Sorensen, this groundbreaking documentary film features stories of Rhode Island families who have experienced postpartum depression firsthand. Original dance choreography by Colleen Cavanaugh, MD and the dance of Part of the Oath eloquently portray the struggle and triumphs of postpartum depression, with a goal to raise awareness and decrease the stigma related to this misunderstood mood disorder affecting one in seven new mothers. All of the event proceeds benefit the outreach and mentoring of the nonprofit Families First RI- Moms for Moms program.
